MATT PETERSON

Having been spared twice from heroin addiction, I just did not feel right about keeping my story to myself. There are far too many individuals and families who need to hear stories of hope. That there is life waiting beyond the hell of substance abuse. I have grown up in Cincinnati Ohio which has become known as one of the deadliest cities throughout the heroin epidemic.
With a combination of education, experience as an addict and having found a new life worth living, I have dedicated myself to becoming one of the most influential recovery advocates that I can be while using my book and public speaking as my tools.
If you, or someone you love, is struggling with addiction, please reach out for information and help.
For my full story, copies of my book, BACK ON TRACKmarks: From Hopeless to Dopeless are for sale. My book gives a detailed look inside of my own addiction to heroin as well as support for people in active addiction and their loved ones.
If you, or someone you love, is struggling with addiction, please reach out for information and help. You are not alone.

BACK ON TRACKMARKS: FROM HOPELESS TO DOPELESS

December 4, 2019

BACK ON TRACKmarks is a book about my life experience as a heroin addict. I grew up as an only child, raised in a Baptist church. After a potentially fatal accident, I was introduced to opiate pain killers. I was 11 years old. Years later, I was re-introduced to my old friend, Vicodin. The difference this time was that my group of friends had changed. What was once a fun, social event quickly turned into a daily need to live. Eventually, heroin found its way into my veins. Although my story contains much tragedy, it is rather a tale of victory. After years of addiction, I was able to find my way back to myself. My objective of writing this book is to share my experience of how tragedy was turned to triumph and to bring hope to those who are actively using substances, those who are in recovery and their loved ones.
